Auditorium and Student Centre – University of Kelaniya

Auditorium and student centre building of the Faculty of Computing and Technology of University of Kelaniya is a part of the Science and Technology Human Resources Development Project funded by the Asian Development Bank. ICC - MAGA Joint Venture undertakes the design and construction of the project. NSA carried out the Structural designs of the project under the shell of Engineering Consultants Limited (ECL) who is the official designer of the project. The 4 storied building comprises 1000 seat capacity fully fledged auditorium and student centre of the faculty to encourage collaboration and active learning outside the traditional classroom along with the multi storied car parking facilities. While carrying out the design we were able to identify and carry out a major value engineering process to avoid very high cost reinforce concrete slab above the auditorium. Instant of the concrete slab we design the roof for the auditorium without affecting the quality and the appearance of the building.
